Donkey Calf Raises Guide

  1. Exercise Type: Isolation - focuses on targeting and isolating specific muscle groups, allowing for targeted muscle development.
  2. Targeted Muscle Groups:
    • primary: calves
    • secondary: left soleus, right soleus

How to perform?

Donkey calf raises are an isolation exercise that targets the gastrocnemius muscle, the larger and more visible of the two calf muscles. The exercise is performed by standing on a raised surface and having a partner sit on your back while you perform calf raises. This added weight provides extra resistance to the exercise, helping to build strength and size in the calf muscles. The soleus and plantaris muscles, which are smaller and deeper calf muscles, also assist in the movement.
