How to perform?
Hyperextension, also known as the back extension, is an isolation exercise that primarily targets the lower back muscles. The glutes and hamstrings are also engaged to assist in the movement, while the abs may be activated to a lesser extent. The exercise involves lying face-down on a hyperextension bench and lifting the torso up towards the ceiling, using the lower back muscles to perform the movement. It can be performed with bodyweight only, or with added resistance such as holding a weight plate.
